Why You Feel Overwhelmed Before the Week Even Starts (It’s Not Your Schedule)
Have you ever noticed…
How Sunday night hits…
And your mind immediately starts listing everything?
What you didn’t finish.
What you need to do.
What you might forget.
And suddenly…
You feel behind.
Before your week even starts.
If that’s you, let me gently tell you something: It’s not your schedule.
The Lie We’ve Been Taught
So many of us believe:
“If I just plan better…
If I just get more organized…
If I just stay on top of everything…”
Then I won’t feel overwhelmed.
But here’s the truth most busy moms don’t hear: You can have a full plan… and still feel overwhelmed.
Because overwhelm doesn’t start in your calendar. It starts in what you’re carrying.
What You’re Carrying Is the Real Weight
As a Christian mom, you care deeply.
You want to:
-
Show up for your family
-
Do well in your career
-
Keep your home in order
-
Be present, patient, and peaceful
But somewhere along the way…
You picked up things that were never yours to carry.
And when you carry what’s not yours:
-
Everything feels urgent
-
Everything feels important
-
Everything feels heavy
That’s where overwhelm begins.
Not in your schedule…
But in misalignment.
The Truth That Sets You Free
You’re not overwhelmed because you’re doing too little.
You’re overwhelmed because you’re carrying things God never assigned to you.
Let that sink in.
Because this changes everything.
Why It Keeps Coming Back
You can fix your schedule…
Rearrange your routine…
Even create a better plan…
And still feel overwhelmed again.
Why?
Because you didn’t fix your starting place.
Reset Your Position
Scripture reminds us that we are seated with Christ (Ephesians 2:6).
That means:
- You are not under your life
- You are not under pressure
- You are positioned in peace and authority
But many of us are living like this:
-
Reacting instead of discerning
-
Saying yes before praying
-
Filling our schedules before seeking God
And when your position is off… Your rhythms will always follow.
A Simple Shift for This Week
Before you plan anything this week…
Pause.
Take a breath.
And pray:
“Lord, I take my seat.
I release what’s not mine.
I choose peace over pressure.”
From that place, you’ll notice:
-
You stop saying yes to everything
-
You stop rushing
-
You begin to discern
-
You naturally create margin
That’s how real change happens.
You Don’t Need a Better Schedule
You don’t need to pack more into your days.
You don’t need to do more. You need to carry less.
Because when your position is right… Your life gets lighter.

If this spoke to you…
I created the Small Stones Guide to help you:
