Too Many Good Things? Why Christian Moms Feel Exhausted (And How to Fix It)
Too Many Good Things?
Have you ever felt exhausted…
but not because you were doing anything sinful or wrong?
Just tired.
Mentally stretched.
Emotionally thin.
Pulled in too many directions.
Many Christian working moms don’t experience burnout because they don’t care.
They experience burnout because they care about everything.
Their families.
Their careers.
Their ministries.
Their friendships.
Their homes.
Their calling.
And somewhere along the way, caring quietly turns into carrying.
The Hidden Stone: Overextension
In the first part of the Small Stones Series, we identified the stones that quietly wear us down:
-
Overcommitment
-
Mental overload
-
Rushing
-
Guilt-driven yeses
-
Doing too many good things
But releasing stones is only the beginning.
The real challenge?
Not picking them back up.
Sometimes exhaustion doesn’t come from disobedience.
It comes from overextension.
From saying yes to every opportunity.
From being available to everyone.
From confusing faithfulness with fullness.
And slowly, without realizing it, we rebuild the very pile we asked God to help us release.
The Solution: The Faithful Six
If we want to stop picking the stones back up, we need structure.
Not hustle.
Not rigid schedules.
Not perfection.
Structure that protects peace.
That’s where The Faithful Six comes in.
Instead of long to-do lists that create overwhelm, you choose six faithful assignments each day one in each of these areas:
1. God – Alignment before action
One intentional act of spiritual connection.
2. Family – Intentional presence
Not everything. One meaningful act.
3. Income – One high-impact task
Not busy work. Impact work.
4. Health – Care for your temple
Movement. Rest. Water. Something intentional.
5. Leadership – One influence decision
Encourage. Delegate. Set a boundary.
6. Overflow – Everything else fits after.
If it doesn’t fit in the six… it waits.
This simple rhythm helps reduce decision fatigue, protect your peace, and prevent Christian mom burnout before it builds.
Faithful Is Not the Same as Full
Here’s the shift:
God never asked you to carry every good opportunity.
He asked you to be faithful with what He assigned.
Faithful.
Not full.
When we confuse the two, exhaustion becomes normal.
When we realign them, harmony becomes possible.
The Faithful Six is not about doing less carelessly.
It’s about choosing intentionally.
It’s about biblical time stewardship living in alignment with your calling instead of reacting to every demand.
What’s Next
Releasing stones is powerful.
But if we don’t shift how we see ourselves, we will quietly pick them back up again.
In the next part of this series, we’re going deeper into the identity shift behind why good Christian moms stay exhausted even when they’re doing everything “right.”
Because this isn’t just about scheduling.
It’s about who you believe you need to be.
Ready to Reset?
If this resonates with you, start tomorrow.
Choose six faithful assignments.
And let the rest wait.
Harmony begins when you stop carrying everything.
With grace,
Felicia
