Stop Running Empty: Caring for Your Body, Soul, and Spirit
I remember that there was a time in my life when I believed being productive meant constantly doing more.
As a busy working mom, wife, and woman of faith, my days were constantly full. Between responsibilities, commitments, and caring for everyone else, I often found myself running on empty.
Can you relate?
What I’ve learned over the years is that exhaustion isn’t always physical.
Sometimes our bodies are tired.
Sometimes our souls are weary.
And honestly sometimes our spirits simply need to reconnect with God.
One day while out on a walk listening to worship music, I experienced something simple but powerful. My music suddenly stopped, disrupting my rhythm. For a moment, I felt completely thrown off. But instead of stopping my walk altogether, I kept moving. Eventually the music returned, and I found my rhythm again.
Life can be like that.
Unexpected interruptions, busy seasons, and daily pressures can disrupt our peace and pull us out of rhythm. But with God’s help, we can return to the rhythms that nourish us.
Here are three simple ways we can care for our whole selves:
1. Care for Your Spirit
Spend time with God daily through prayer, worship, and His Word.
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” — Matthew 6:33
2. Care for Your Soul
Protect your peace. Rest, reflect, and release your burdens to the Lord.
“Truly my soul finds rest in God…” — Psalm 62:1
3. Care for Your Body
Steward the temple God has given you through movement, nourishment, and rest.
“Your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit…” — 1 Corinthians 6:19
Friend, God cares about every part of your body, soul, and spirit.
You don’t have to keep running empty.
Small, faithful rhythms lead to lasting transformation.
Because we were never created for hustle.
We were created to flourish with purpose.
