Reset Your Pace: God Protects You From Rushed Living
A Faith Reset for Working Career Moms
Rushing has become so normal for working moms that we rarely question it.
We rush through mornings.
Rush between meetings.
Rush dinner, bedtime, emails even our prayers.
Yet many of us end the day feeling drained, disconnected, and overwhelmed, even when nothing “went wrong.”
That’s because rushed living is one of the small stones we trip over daily.
And Psalm 91 reminds us that God’s protection isn’t only for major crises it’s for the pace at which we live.
“For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” — Psalm 91:11–12
A stone isn’t a mountain.
It’s small. Subtle. Easy to overlook.
And rushed living is exactly that kind of stone.
When Rushing Steals Your Peace
Rushing doesn’t just affect your schedule it affects your soul.
When we live in a constant hurry, we’re more likely to:
- lose our peace
- react instead of respond
- miss God’s gentle nudges
- feel emotionally and spiritually disconnected
Rushing trains us to move ahead of God instead of walking with Him.
But Psalm 91 shows us something comforting:
God actively guards our steps, even in ordinary moments.
Sometimes His protection doesn’t look like removing obstacles.
Sometimes it looks like slowing us down before we stumble.
God’s Protection Includes Your Pace
At the start of a new year, culture pushes us to:
- move faster
- do more
- start strong
But God’s invitation is different.
He isn’t asking you to sprint into the year.
He’s inviting you to walk covered.
Not every pause is a delay.
Not every slowdown is unproductive.
Sometimes slowing your pace is God protecting you from burnout, resentment, or exhaustion that would quietly derail you later.
For working moms, choosing a grace-filled pace isn’t weakness it’s wisdom.
A Gentle Reset for This Week
Instead of asking: “How can I get more done?”
Try asking: “Where is God inviting me to slow down?”
Peace doesn’t come from perfect planning.
It comes from trusting that God is guarding your steps one moment at a time.
You don’t have to rush to be faithful.
You don’t have to hurry to be effective.
You are already covered.
Reflection Questions
Take a few moments to reflect:
- Where do I feel the most rushed right now work, home, or internally?
- How has rushing affected my peace or presence lately?
- What would it look like to trust God with my pace this week?
Prayer
Father God,
As I begin this new year, I surrender my pace to You.
Forgive me for believing that rushing is the only way to keep up.
Slow my heart when my schedule feels full.
Teach me to walk with You instead of running ahead of You.
I choose peace over pressure.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
