Quieting the Noise: How Christian Working Moms Can Hear God Before Planning Their Week
If you’re a Christian career mom, planning your week can feel like juggling a thousand tabs open in your mind. Most of us start planning from pressure, not peace — and that’s where overwhelm and stress begins.
Here’s a simple way to shift your weekly routine so you can actually hear God’s voice and direction before your schedule takes over.
1. Pause before you plan
Don’t jump straight into the to-dos.
Take 30 seconds to breathe, settle your mind, and quiet the internal rush.
A calm heart hears more clearly.
2. Ask: “What really matters this week?”
Everything on your list is not equally important.
Before you fill your calendar, ask God to highlight what actually matters in this season — not what feels urgent.
3. Notice the difference between pressure and peace
Pressure sounds like:
“I should… I have to… They expect me to…”
Peace sounds like clarity.
It may still be work, but it doesn’t feel frantic.
Use this as your filter before saying yes.
4. Do the Assignment Check
Before committing to anything, ask:
“Lord, is this mine in this season?”
This one question saves working moms from unnecessary overwhelm.
5. Use a simple 3-minute rhythm every week
Here’s a quick routine you can do every Sunday or Monday:
-
Pause (30 seconds)
-
Ask God for direction (30 seconds)
-
Listen for what rises with peace (1 minute)
-
Plan from that clarity (1 minute)
That’s it — no long routine needed.
The result?
Your week becomes more aligned, more peaceful, and far less chaotic because you’re planning with God, not by yourself.
