Before You Push Through Another Week, Try This Reset
Were there weeks when you knew you were tired, but instead of slowing down, you told yourself:
“I just need to push through.”
So you keep going.
You take care of what needs to be done. You show up for your family. You handle work, responsibilities, appointments, ministry, home, and all the little things nobody else seems to notice.
You’re strong. You’re dependable. You get things done.
But even the strong woman needs a reset.
And sometimes the answer isn’t figuring out how to become stronger so you can carry more.
Sometimes the answer is recognizing what you were never meant to keep carrying.
You May Not Need More Strength
When life feels overwhelming, our natural response can be to work harder.
We reorganize the calendar. Make another list. Wake up earlier. Tell ourselves that once we get through this week, things will settle down.
But then another week comes.
God never intended for us to flourish by continually running on empty.
Jesus gives us a beautiful invitation in Matthew 11:28:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Notice the invitation is for the weary and burdened.
You don’t have to get everything under control before coming to Him. You can come tired. You can come overwhelmed. You can come carrying questions you haven’t figured out yet.
If you’ve been pushing through for too long, here are four questions to help you reset.
1. REST: What Does My Body Need?
We can become so accustomed to functioning tired that exhaustion begins to feel normal.
Before adding another task to your schedule, check in with yourself:
What does my body need right now?
Maybe you need more sleep.
Maybe you need nourishing food, more water, movement, or a quiet evening.
Maybe you need to stop filling every open space on your calendar.
Rest isn’t laziness.
Rest is stewardship.
Caring for yourself allows you to continue showing up for what God has entrusted to you without constantly pouring from an empty cup.
2. RELEASE: What Am I Carrying That I Can Put Down?
Sometimes we’re tired because we’re doing too much.
Other times, we’re tired because we’re carrying too much.
Expectations.
Guilt.
Other people’s problems.
The pressure to keep everyone happy.
Responsibilities that belonged to a previous season.
The belief that if you don’t handle it, everything will fall apart.
Ask yourself:
What am I carrying that I can put down?
Some things can be delegated.
Some things can wait.
Some things require a boundary.
And some things need to be placed back into God’s hands.
You don’t have to carry it all.
3. REALIGN: What Actually Matters This Week?
When you’re overwhelmed, everything can feel urgent.
But everything cannot be your highest priority at the same time.
Instead of asking:
“How can I fit everything in?”
Try asking:
“God, what matters most right now?”
Maybe your priorities this week are spending time with God, caring for your health, completing one important responsibility, and being present with your family.
Give yourself permission to identify what matters, and allow some things to wait.
Harmony doesn’t mean everything receives equal time.
Harmony means your time, energy, and attention are aligned with what matters most in this season.
4. RECEIVE: Where Do I Need God’s Strength Instead of My Own?
This one can be difficult for the woman who is accustomed to being strong.
You’re good at giving.
Serving.
Helping.
Handling.
Fixing.
But are you equally comfortable receiving?
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us:
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”
Renewal isn’t always found in trying harder.
Sometimes renewal begins when you open your hands and pray:
“Lord, I don’t have what this season requires on my own. I need You.”
There is freedom in realizing that everything doesn’t depend on your strength.
The Strong Woman’s Reset
Before you move into another week, take a few quiet minutes and ask yourself these four questions:
REST: What does my body need?
RELEASE: What am I carrying that I can put down?
REALIGN: What actually matters this week?
RECEIVE: Where do I need God’s strength instead of my own?
Then choose one small reset.
Not ten.
One.
Go to bed earlier.
Cancel something unnecessary.
Ask for help.
Take a walk.
Spend 15 quiet minutes with God.
Leave something undone.
Create the boundary you’ve been avoiding.
One small reset can begin creating a different rhythm.
You Don’t Have to Keep Pushing
Being strong doesn’t mean carrying everything.
And flourishing doesn’t mean doing everything.
There will be seasons when strength looks less like pushing forward and more like knowing when to rest, release, realign, and receive.
So before you tell yourself, “I just have to get through another week,” ask a different question:
What if I don’t need to push harder? What if I need to reset?
God may not be asking you to carry more.
He may be inviting you to come closer, put something down, and allow Him to renew you.
A Question for You
Which part of the reset do you need most today: Rest, Release, Realign, or Receive?
Choose one and give yourself permission to begin there.
Small resets can create big change. Harmony, not hustle.
