Stay On The Wall

Greetings Flourishing Woman

How many times have you attempted to complete a task but opposition and distraction got in your way? How many times have you started out strong only to quit once again? You know this is what God has called you to do but you just can’t seem to accomplish it. Over time discouragement and doubt kicks in and you feel like it cannot be accomplished.

One of my favorite leaders and books in the bible is Nehemiah. He was a cupbearer to the king. God had placed a burden on his heart to go back and rebuild the walls and bring spiritual restoration to the people of Jerusalem. Nehemiah had a great passion for this assignment. He took ownership of it. This assignment came with much opposition and distraction. Anytime we set out to do something for God you can best believe opposition is coming. The enemy does not want us to complete our assignment. He will use anything and anybody to distract us. He wants to sabotage the work. We cannot be ignorant of the enemy's devices.

I am carrying on a great project and cannot come down. (Nehemiah 6:3)  Sanballat and his crew were sending  him constant messages trying to get him to come down off the wall. They wanted to put a halt to the assignment. But he was not easily persuaded. Here are a few things we can learn from the leadership of Nehemiah.

  • Nehemiah was passionate about his assignment
  • Nehemiah was laser focused on the work
  • Nehemiah did not allow the enemy to distract him with senseless things. The enemy will constantly try to harass us to wear us down. This will zap our mental and physical strength.
  • Nehemiah was fully persuaded that this was an awesome work. He felt it was very crucial and he was not gonna abort it.
  • Nehemiah was a man that prayed. He asked God to strengthen his hands. He knew he could not complete it in his own strength.

Have you even found yourself at a stand still? Are you on go with the green light, yielding on yellow, and then coming to a complete stop on red. We cannot afford to be in a cycle of stop and go. We cannot allow opposition, distractions, fear, discouragement and frustration to overtake us. We will never complete our divine  assignment. In order for us to grow and flourish we can’t come down. We must stay on the wall  to complete our assignment  and fulfill  our God ordained  purpose.

Let’s flourish together
