Praying Through Pressure: How to Seek God in Stressful Moments
Life as a Christian career mom is very rewarding but can feel like a constant balancing act many days. In these moments of stress, things can become a bit heavy and you might feel like you’re carrying the world on your shoulders.

1. Prayer Shifts Your Focus to God
When we’re under pressure, it’s easy to become consumed by our problems. Prayer shifts our focus from the chaos around us to the One who has the power to calm the storm. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Prayer allows us to take a step back, breathe, and remember that God is in control, even when we feel out of control.

“Lord, I feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. I need You.”
Surrendering your stress to God is the first step to finding peace.
2. Use Scripture as a Guide
When you don’t know what to pray, let God’s Word inspire you. For example:
- If you need peace: “Lord, Your Word says You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast (Isaiah 26:3). Help me to fix my thoughts on You.”
- If you need strength: “Lord, Your strength is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Give me the energy to face today.”
3. Pray During Your Daily Tasks
Busy moms often don’t have time for long, uninterrupted prayers—and that’s okay. Integrate prayer into your daily routine:
- While driving, pray for patience and safety.
- While cooking, thank God for provision and pray for family unity.
- During your commute, meditate on a verse or worship song.
4. Take Short Prayer Breaks
Even one or two minutes can make a difference. Pause, breathe deeply, and say:
“Lord, guide me through this moment.”
5. Ask for God’s Perspective
