Managing Your Time God's Way: A Biblical Guide for Busy Moms
Time is a gift. How to use God's gift of time His way as a busy working mom?
Time management is something that we as busy career mom’s really struggle with. It is not just about trying to get everything done in a day, but it also includes finding what God's focus is for us for that day and choosing that direction that He has for us.
Time is a precious and finite resource, one that often seems to slip through our fingers as we navigate the daily challenges of being working moms. We all know the feeling of wishing for just a few more hours in the day to accomplish everything on our never-ending to-do lists. But what if that was a way to manage our time better, by operating through His strength verses ours?
In the midst of the hustle and bustle of our lives, this blog post aims to explore three powerful biblical principles that can help you make the most of the time you have. As busy working moms, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the constant demands of work, family, and personal commitments. However, by applying these principles, you can find balance, prioritize effectively, and use your time in a way that honors God and enriches your life.
So let's dive into the three principles and let’s practice doing it God's way.
Let's begin with a prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you with humble hearts, seeking your guidance and wisdom as we embark on the journey of managing our time according to your divine plan. We recognize that time is a precious gift from you, and we desire to use it in a way that honors and pleases you. Lord, please grant us the strength and discernment to apply the principles we're about to explore in this blog. May your Holy Spirit guide our steps and lead us to make choices that align with your will. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Tip 1: Trust in the Lord's Guidance (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Our first tip takes inspiration from Proverbs 3:5-6 - "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths". Often, we try to handle everything on our own, relying on our own wisdom and strength. However, the Bible encourages us to acknowledge God in all our ways, seeking His guidance and direction for our day. When we do this, the promise is clear: He will direct our paths. This means that by seeking God's guidance, you can prioritize your tasks and make choices aligned with His will.
Tip 2: Rise Early and Plan (Proverbs 31:15)
Our second tip takes inspiration from Proverbs 31:15 - "She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens." which speaks of the virtuous woman who rises early to provide for her family. Rising early allows you to start your day with prayer and planning, seeking God's direction for your activities. Just as this woman plans her day's work, you too can plan your tasks and goals, using the resources and assistance available to you. By doing so, you can save time and invest it back into yourself, your family, and your spiritual life.
Tip 3: Put God First (Matthew 6:33)
Matthew 6:33 - "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you". It reminds us to seek the kingdom of God first, trusting that when we prioritize Him, He will provide everything we need. It's easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, but putting God first in all we do ensures that our actions align with His purpose. Take time in the evenings to wind down, reflect on your day, and meditate on the Word of God. This inner preparation, combined with outward planning, will help you trust God with all aspects of your life.
Let's close with a prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the wisdom and insight you have provided in this blog post. We pray that these biblical principles resonate with the hearts of busy working moms and empower them to manage their time according to your will. Lord, grant us the strength and discipline to trust in your guidance, rise early for prayer and planning, and put you first in all we do. May your presence be with us each day as we seek to honor you with our time. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
