Gain Control Over Your Day

Many people who investigate time management and productivity strategies are already very busy people. They like doing things, and they like seeing the results of their efforts.

The problem is that as busy career working moms we can feel so out of control, regarding time. You feel as if you are running as fast as you can but going nowhere, like a rat on a wheel. If you feel that way, take heart. You can learn to gain more control over your day through effective analysis, planning, prioritizing, and implementation.

Audit How You Spend Your Time
Take a few days to learn how you’re spending your time now and what the impact of that is. It’s easy to keep track if you use your smartphone to record what you’re doing on a note pad, by taking pictures, or by just writing down what you’re doing and the time and impact of it in a physical notebook . The important thing is that you should know after a week or so how you’re spending your time now and how the actions you’re taking are affecting your goals.

Start Giving Yourself Time Limits and Deadlines
When you look at your time spent audit, do you notice any patterns or things that jump out as time-wasters? If so, automatically eliminate all time-wasters such as surfing the net and so forth by simply adding a time limit to the tasks that you need to do. For example, if you do need to check your email each morning, set a time limit of 15 to 30 minutes so that you’re not tempted to get lost clicking links in email rather than seriously processing email.

Develop a Daily To-Do List
I know you probably get tired of hearing this, but create a daily to-do list and add only things that are urgent and only you can do. Everything else can be scheduled for a later time, assigned to someone else or even automated. Primarily the to-do list should consist of impactful actions that make a difference and get you closer to reaching your goals.

Develop Consistent Prayer Time Daily
Acknowledge God Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Remember, you don’t have to do everything yourself. You can delegate and outsource things that don’t need your unique touch. It doesn’t matter if it’s something at home, like housework, or for your work or business.

Focus on doing what is most important each day and you will be successful in gaining control over your time. Moms, we only have 24 hours , let’s make it count!

We got this!
