Faith Over Full Schedules: Trusting God with Your Time This Spring

You’ve made it to Week 4 of the Spring into Balance series—what a journey! We’ve refreshed our routines, renewed our spirits, and planted seeds of self-care. Now, it’s time to take a deeper step: trusting God with our time.

As high-achieving Christian moms, it’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to control every hour, every goal, and every detail. We plan, hustle, and strive to fit it all in. But God’s plan often requires surrender over schedule and faith over full calendars.

Let’s talk about how to loosen our grip and let God guide how we spend our most valuable resource—our time.

1. The Illusion of Control

We live in a world that praises productivity. We’re told to plan, organize, and optimize every moment. And while time management is important, it can’t replace trusting God.

Proverbs 16:9 says: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

You can plan, but He directs. True peace comes when we trust Him more than our planners.

2. Why Trusting God With Your Time Is Essential

When we try to do it all in our own strength, we burn out. We start managing our calendars but miss our callings. Trusting God with our time means:

  • Saying no when it's hard
  • Leaving margin for rest
  • Accepting that productivity doesn’t equal purpose
  • Being okay with unfinished tasks when He’s called us to peace

3. 4 Ways to Trust God With Your Time

1. Start Your Week in Prayer
Before you schedule anything, sit with God. Ask: “Lord, what matters most this week? Where should my energy go?” Let Him be your planner.

2. Build in Margin
Don’t fill every hour. Margin is where peace lives—and where God often shows up unexpectedly. Jesus often withdrew to quiet places. You can too.

3. Let Go of Overcommitment
You don’t need to say yes to everything. Ask: Is this God-led or guilt-led? Every yes needs to be filtered through His purpose.

4. Surrender the Outcome
You may not check every box. That doesn’t mean you failed—it means you followed faith over pressure. God sees your obedience more than your output.

4. Surrender Is Strength

Trusting God with your time doesn’t mean neglecting your responsibilities—it means allowing Him to set the pace.
You were never meant to carry every task, every burden, every plan. When you hand your calendar to God, you trade chaos for clarity.

A Prayer to Surrender Your Time

Heavenly Father,
I release the pressure to do it all. I give You my time, my schedule, my goals, and my days. Teach me to seek You first. Help me to walk in rhythm with Your grace. Show me what to say yes to—and what to let go of. May my calendar reflect Your peace and purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
